As a promoter, your chief duty would be to submit Vulpiano Records songs and album downloads to relevant music blogs and podcasts for consideration, with a focus on those that feature artists that are: independent, unsigned, and/or artists in the genres that Vulpiano specializes in (ambient, electronic, and acoustic). As a perk, you’ll be able to listen to Vulpiano releases as soon as they’re available - before they hit the website! Social media experience and music blogosphere awareness preferred. Vulpiano Records isn’t an ordinary label. Vulpiano is a collective and a community. The concept behind Vulpiano is simple: to offer quality free music. Genres we specialize in are ambient, electronic, and acoustic. All artists are linked by their spirit of independence and experimentation. We hope you enjoy and share the music.

Vulpiano Records was launched in November 2009 by synth musician Marilyn Roxie, initially as a place to house unsigned and independent artists they had gotten to know from networking on Last.fm and submissions to Roxie’s music blog, A Future in Noise. These artists got on board with Roxie’s vision of a free music collective. The music is licensed under Creative Commons to encourage sharing of this fabulous music with friends and through blogs and podcasts.

Top-listened to artists on the label as of early 2012 according to Last.fm scrobbles are Natural Snow Buildings, Fire Island Pines, and Anton Rothschild.

Vulpiano Records hiatus until late 2011/early 2012…

Note from Marilyn Roxie: Due to my intense college workload, I am not able to put in as much time into shaping and promoting Vulpiano Records as before so, along with the planning of a couple of upcoming releases later this year / early 2012, there will be no new releases for now. Please do continue to submit your music for consideration on the label, explore our catalog, and share Vulpiano music with others. Thank you for listening! • Natural Snow Buildings - The Centauri Agent has had 2,000+ downloads (most-downloaded our label release yet) so far! Coverage and linkage of the album has been widespread, including: graphic novelist Warren Ellis’ blog, Disconcerted Sounds, j’s heaven, cowsarejustfood, and dying for bad music (which also included NSB’s “Moscow signal” in the March Hares mix download and featured Vulpiano artist Ava Zandieh’s Patterns and Drones). WXYC 89.3 FM played “Memories found in a bill from a small animal vet” recently, too! WXYC is a fabulous station, which you can stream live.
• Some Vulpiano gear now available at the Marilyn Roxie Emporium on Zazzle. Any proceeds from purchases will go towards helping artists put out limited edition ‘handmade’ physical copy releases and other potential goodies in the future!

Coming soon on Vulpiano Records, the latest album from Natural Snow Buildings, The Centauri Agent! I got in touch with Mehdi and Solange, who have been so very cool to me, from writing about their music in an Artist Feature for Sleepwalking Mag in July 2009. They recently expressed their interest in my label and are going to put out a new totally free double LP out this month on Vulpiano. Review will appear at A Future in Noise upon release.
